Message from the seller

1996 Mazda Miata MX-5 On your mark, get set, and you know the rest! Maybe you've already experienced Spec Miata racing because according to their website, the Mazda Miata is the most raced car in North America, and for good reason. The platform itself is compliant and predictable, which makes it a great car for learning to drive well.. And while Spec Miata generally run stock engines maxing out at 125 horsepower, other Miatas have been built for loftier ventures. For consignment, a 1996 Mazda Miata MX-5 with a consignor stated 10 miles since its full out race build has been completed. Yes, very few laps have been completed with this wide bodied, winged sports car. If you're worried about transporting the car to tracks and hill climbs around the country, worry no more as a 2016 Montrose enclosed trailer is included with the sale. Exterior Menacing Black paint is matched by its wide, low stance and black 15-inch 949 racing wheels. If Batman drove a Miata, this would be it. Air ducts and heat extractors have been added on the exterior and the wide body kit was built by EP Miata for Pikes Peak. Front canards and the massive rear wing are carbon fiber while a custom windscreen and rear deck covers guide the quick air over the car. A JPM built custom roll cage integrates with the driver's roll bars and Miata's diminutive door handles remain and present the only non black feature other than the door numbers and class designation. Imperfections include a crack in the fiberglass and some scuffs on the bumpers. Interior Remember, it's a race car so creature comforts and unnecessary weight has been removed, including the door panels, only the actuator and cross members remain. Racing seats keep occupants planted with the help of the roll cage mounted harness system while the small steering wheel fronts an AiM digital dash display accompanied by a series of system gauges backlit in various colors to the right. Some of the custom wiring can be seen as there are no cosmetic panels nor carpet on the floor. A stout shifter rises from the center console and OMP racing pedals work in conjunction to motivate this black beauty around the track. Drivetrain An impressive looking 1.6 liter DOHC inline four resides under the hood with racing features that include Supertek high flow valves, springs, and titanium retainers along with Deatschwerks injectors, TEC S ECU and wiring, JPM custom cams, and a Borg Warner turbocharger. It's mated to a 5-speed manual sending power to the Torsen differential with 3.60 gears. Headers begin the exhaust process and feature a Track Dog header wrap system. Power disc brakes are on all four wheels. Undercarriage Along with the added tow hooks on the clean underside, we have Ohlins coilover suspension front and rear along with a single exhaust that flows through a glasspack style muffler before exiting out back. All clean underneath with added bracing and some heavy duty suspension arms. Drive-Ability Try shaking the car by pushing the roll cage and you get nothing. It's a surefooted, solid brick and we know we're in for a race ready and appropriately stiff ride on our less than perfect tarmac. Per our consignor, the car lacks an engine tune and while there's obvious power underfoot, we're not pushing this beast too hard. Handling is as you would expect, glued to the test loop while maintaining a perfectly horizontal attitude. All functions, including gauges and lights, operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. If you're ready to start, or continue your racing hobby, here's a fine machine to consider. The work has been done for you, it's only a matter of tuning the engine, loading up the trailer that comes with the car, and heading to the track, solo event, or hill climb. This is one bad to the bone Miata and if racing is you
