1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe Experience a joy that only Z28 owners can relate to. From the driver's seat. Strap yourself in. You're snug and confident in the contoured bucket. Before you a thick, leather wrapped wheel beckons. The automotive shifter awaits your command. Round, easy to read gages, (sic), stand poised to relay vital information. Everything is placed logically, within easy, instinctive reach. From the 1986 Camaro sales brochure. For consignment, a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 coupe showing 17,298 miles, but the true miles are unknown. While the experience might resemble that of the stock Z28 outlined in the sale brochure, this one is built to the hilt with a supercharged V8 under the hood and lots more! Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area. Exterior Clearly the Camaro form can be seen but there's an enormous cowl hood that changes the profile along with deeply staggered sized tires on 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels that sets the rear up high and that cowled front aggressively forward. Body cladding still retains the Z28 badging and the front piece has a line of intake ducts under the grimace of the upper grille and browed dual headlights. There's no veering from the silver here and the monochromatic solid roof F-body sends two straight exhaust tips out the back. Imperfections include some chin scrapes as one would expect, surface rust on a wheel opening lip, some separation at the cowl hood, water stains on the wheels, and a bubble in the paint. Interior The black door panels are clean and intact and retain their original configuration, leading to bucket seats with racing lap belts up front and normal 2+2 in back, and all are clean. Then it's on to race central ahead, and while the steering wheel is original, the added tachometer and warning lights strewn about are not. There's an original instrument cluster ahead but also water, oil, and boost gauges on the passenger side canted towards the pilot, and right next to a fire extinguisher. An AM/FM/CD radio is on place just above a row of covered toggle switches and a B&M shifter in the center console. Black carpet below, a charcoal headliner above, and a rear cargo area under the glass that carpeted and all are in good condition. Drivetrain The business end houses a 355ci V8 with a Competition cam, Weiand supercharger, 2.02i/1.60e valve heads, and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to a Ford 9 rear with 3.73 gears and Positraction. Naturally, there are headers on board. Undercarriage Driver quality underneath indicating this car is more for go and less about the show. That said, there is a polished oil pan under here. Dual exhaust run through Bullet mufflers on their way to the back and power disc brakes are up front, augmented by the power drums in back. Suspension is comprised of coils springs front and rear with at orque arm in back. There is no catalytic converter nor transmission inspection plate under here. Drive-Ability With some raucous exhaust notes, we roll this supercharged silver bullet on to the test loop where it exhibits some nice power, straight tracking, and good braking. Our notes include several items including the driver's power window does not go down, the factory tachometer and oil pressure gauge are not working, the added boost gauge is not registering, and the horn and reverse lights are not working. All other functions on this road racer operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. If you're looking for something a little bit meaner than the average mid 80's Z28, this modified
