Much as with its contemporaries, the company extensively modified cars produced by mass-market companies. In the case of their flagship model, the Golden Spirit, the vehicle of choice was the Fox-body Ford Mustang. After removing all body panels except for the roof and doors, Zimmer's artisans extended the chassis by over three feet and then installed custom fiberglass panels of Zimmer's own design. Interiors were reworked nearly as exhaustively, with full leather upholstery and genuine wood trim replacing Ford's more mundane materials. The result was a vehicle that could scarcely be recognized. With a retail price starting over over $50,000 (over $17,000 more than a Mercedes-Benz SL from the same year), the Golden Spirit was always going to be a limited-production automobile. Even still, the company managed to move around 1,500 Golden Spirits before shutting down in 1988. Of those, most were produced as two-door hardtops, though a sedan and "personal limousine" were built on special request. A 'T-top' coupe and convertible were also offered, though the take rate was fairly low. Today, original Zimmers are regarded for their exclusivity and unique styling. The eye-catching 1983 Zimmer Golden Spirit Convertible featured here is finished in unique French Vanilla (Ivory) over a Tan leather interior with a matching power convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has been driven a mere 2,102 miles and virtually cannot be told from new. With only 26 convertibles produced out of approximately 1,500 Golden Spirits produced, this exceptional, extremely low-mileage Zimmer is the perfect choice for any premier collection. Because of this, I personally believe the investment potential of this Golden Spirit will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most sophisticated investor, collector, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the rarity and investment potential of this iconic motorcar.
