This 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster was built in December 1955 and was delivered new in the US through the Hoffman Motor Car Company in . It was purchased in 1973 by Minimalist sculptor Robert Morris, who subsequently embarked on a build that included the addition of a custom-made aluminum headrest fairing, tonneau panel, and wheel spats as well as various mechanical modifications. The car red an unfinished project stored in Morris studio until it was acquired from his widow in 2020 by a collector who completed its assembly and installed a 1.6-liter flat-four. Features include a dual-mount Type 741 four-speed manual transaxle, four-wheel disc brakes, vertically mounted rear shock absorbers, a ZF steering gearbox, a Dansk muffler, side bracing, aluminum-framed seats wrapped in black vinyl, a blacked-out dash, and shaved door handles. After its recommissioning in 2021, the car appeared at The Bridge in Bridgehampton and was featured in BaT s . This modified Speedster is now offered by the selling dealer in with a copy of its Kardex, templates from Morris fabrication work, invoices from the last two years, its removed numbers-matching transaxle, spare parts, and a clean title.
